My name is Matt, and I’m an expert Creative Generalist facilitating authentic, community-rooted experiences through design, public art, and education.
I collaborate creatively with people who care deeply about place, purpose, memories, experiences, and equitable community impact with Shapespace, Earth Surprise, and James Madison University.
As Creative Director and partner at Shapespace, I co-lead a design studio specializing in interior design and custom fabrication. We create environments that are emotionally resonant, functional, and built for all-ages engagement.
I’m also a co-founding muralist at Earth Surprise, a public arts org focused on access, representation, and joy. We create gathering spaces through visual experiences that spark conversation, uplift neighborhoods, and foster lasting socio-economic impact
I serve as a Lecturer in Creative Advertising at JMU’s School of Media Arts and Design during the academic year. Through partnerships with local non-profits, I teach students how to harness modern tools to move beyond outdated marketing funnels to implement more humanist, ethnographic campaigns.
So yeah, kinda busy, but a fun busy.
